Highway 1 has reopened! Due to recent fires near Big Sur, Highway 1 was closed in late June and early July, between San Simeon and Carmel/Monterey in order to support the firefighting efforts.

The fire crews have made a tremendous impact, and have gotten the fire well-contained, which has allowed the road to be reopened. Those travelers traveling the Central Coast now have full access along Highway 1.
